An opportunity to practice and study with other teachers for a weekend. It has always been a requirement of my 200 hour training that graduates keep up their professional development. This can be doing a workshop each year but the best method is to come together with other qualified teachers to learn from the content and each other. This will give you inspiration for your own classes and help you to keep on learning. As yoga practitioners and teachers we never stop learning!
Content for the weekend will include:
* Guided half Primary Series & half Intermediate practice, with options for modifications & adaptions. Part counted.
* Mysore practice - assisting each other in the practice.
* Postures – alignment, problem areas, observation & verbal and hands-on adjustments.
* Working with resistance and release in postures and adjustments. Active and passive stretches and how to find each in the postures.
* Pranayama and meditation – introducing into classes and practice.
* Teaching clinic – any questions. Problems with supporting clients.
* Working with Injuries. Injuries and modifications.
Common problems arising from practice and life, & keeping the body healthy. With focus on back and shoulder problems.
* The subtle body and how it ties into your yoga practice.
* Sitting postures and how to support for ease
* Developing focussed classes and teaching workshops.

Ashtanga Yoga Glastonbury 200 hour Teacher training course - Certified by Yoga Alliance Professionals. July 2025 to June 2026.
This teacher training course provided the trainee with the knowledge and skills required to teach yoga safely and with confidence. The course was also a means to deepen knowledge and understanding of all aspects of yoga, along with developing your own practice. In the future I intend to run immersions in yoga for those that don't wish to teach.
The training was based around the structure of Primary Series Ashtanga Yoga and encouraged students to find their own style and way of teaching.
It was spread over a year to encourage trainees to grow in their own practice and understanding of yoga, while developing their teaching technique and individual style, which they did!
By the end of the course trainees qualified as safe, creative yoga instructors, brimming with ideas and ready to impart the valuable teachings of yoga to others.
The main teacher trainer was Jane Piddington.
Brian Cooper taught an adjustment weekend and Christoph Seiland a weekend of anatomy and biomechanics.
The Teacher Trainers
Jane Piddington will be the main teacher trainer supporting each student throughout the year. A Senior Yoga Teacher certified by Yoga Alliance Professionals, and founder of Ashtanga Yoga Glastonbury, Jane has been practicing yoga for well over 30 years, and teaching for 25 - this will be her seventh 200 hour teacher training.
Brian Cooper, head of Yoga Alliance Professionals, will teach an adjustment weekend.
Brian has been practicing and teaching for decades, and has been Jane's main teacher and mentor since 2002. Brian delivered his own teacher trainings for 20 years and is one of the founders and directors of Yoga Alliance Professionals training body. We are honoured and lucky to have his involvement on this course!
Christoph Seiland will teach a weekend of anatomy and biomechnics. Christoph has an accessible and deeply knowledgeable approach to the understanding of body movement at all levels.
Training dates were predominantly held in Glastonbury town, with the induction week and Brian Cooper's weekend held in halls at peaceful villages in the local area.
Course content:
* Learning in detail the postures from the Ashtanga primary series.
* Teaching and practice of Ashtanga yoga to its full potential.
* Adjustment technique and practice - verbal & physical.
* Modifications and adaptations of postures.
* Yoga sequencing and vinyasa krama.

Testimonials
"I have had many teachers over 13 years or so of practising yoga, and Jane is one of the very best. She has a deep knowledge and passion for yoga which is infectious. She takes great care with each of her students and is invested in their wellbeing and progress on their own personal yoga journey. I feel privileged to have completed my 200hr teacher training with Jane and have learnt so much from her. She leads by example, creating a supportive and encouraging environment. I would thoroughly recommend Jane."

"Thank you for all your kindness and support and expert teaching. Without all of that, none of this would have been possible and even at the start of the course I could not really imagine myself actually teaching yoga.
It’s amazing!"
Sue Knight, qualified Ashtanga Yoga Glastonbury teacher 2023
"The teacher training course taught by Jane was amazing. My own practice developed as the course evolved and I absolutely love teaching. The course structure enabled me to weave elements that had been covered each weekend into my own classes, with confidence. Definitely one of the best decisions I have ever made".

Teachers CPD Further Training Weekend
The date of the next CPD weekend has yet to be arranged. Details are for the last one held in April 2024, as an example.
Brian Cooper will teach an Adjustment Plus weekend for qualified and trainee yoga teachers in October 2025. Details to follow!
During this weekend we will work with:
* Adjustments - Looking at postures from the latter part of Ashtanga primary series, inversions, some Intermediate series postures and backbends. Verbal and hands-on adjustments, technique and alignment. Adapting postures to suit different bodies. Working with injuries.
* Vinyasa krama - Intelligent sequencing with 1. a peak posture, 2. a theme. Most yoga classes are a form of vinyasa krama. In this session we will look at gaining confidence in creating intelligent and constructive sequences that work to access a specific posture, or a more general theme.
* Teaching clinic and discussion. A chance to speak about any concerns or teaching points, smooth running of classes, etc. with the group.
* Teaching pranayama - How to introduce people to pranayama within a yoga class, and to work with a regular practice to unlock the manifold proven benefits.
The content will be spread over both days. Each day will begin with a led practice.
Your trainer will be Jane Piddington - senior yoga teacher and trainer pro, certified by Yoga Alliance Professionals. Jane has been teaching yoga since 2000 and teacher training since 2015.
This further training course will involve practice, observation, group work and teaching, and some optional coursework.
Cost £200.
